Hair trouble and a quiz stolen from Heather...

I kinda forgot to mention to most of you about the change in my hairstyle. Most of you probably wouldn't find it interesting, but it was drastic enough to warrant a mention in my blog.

A few weeks ago, just before my cousin's wedding, I decided that I needed to update my look - it was getting a little staid and boring doing the same thing all the time. So, I got a french manicure (lasted less than a week :P), a pedicure (shiny toe nails! and it's still there!), and last, but not least, I got a haircut.

It's probably a mistake to sit in a salon and tell the hairdresser to 'do what you want with my hair' without letting them know that you're attending a wedding dinner in three day's time.

Long story short, I ended up looking like a boy. I am not kidding you. I had a middle parting when I had long hair, and he cut the hair short enough to expose my ears. Like a schoolboy haircut. It was a total disaster!

On the next day, when I was in Ipoh, I decided to get some highlights in my hair so I'd look less boyish, and the hairdresser combed my hair down over my forehead, trimmed it a little and put brown streaks into my hair. Well, I still look tomboyish, but it's not too bad now. If you want to know what I look like, head over to my online photo album and take a look. It's in the 'Playing Around' album. It's a camera phone photo, so the lighting is rather psychedelic, but you'll see what I mean. Most people seems to think hair this short suits me though - I've been told I look pixie-ish, it emphasizes my eyes, etc, although I don't really like it that much myself. Go figure.

Also added some pictures from my Colorado leg of the journey. A lot of the pictures from the other places like NY and GA are still too large, and I don't have a proper programme to convert them, no computer at home, and no time at work to bother, but I got some from Heather which I posted in the GA/Augusta leg of the trip. Thanks, Heather-chan! If you don't remember where it is, ask me lah! ^_^

On to the quiz!

1. What is your occupation? Human Resources Clerk

2. What are you listening to right now? 'Since I don't have you' - Guns n' Roses.

3. What was the last thing you ate? There was a potluck breakfast in the office this morning, which was great. There was tons of stuff, although I tried to sample small bits and not eat too much, it's still a lot. I had Nasi Lemak, French toast with sardines, mini club sandwich, a cheese tart (and there were so much more food around!) and as drinks, a glass each of mango and blackberry lassi and purple carrot+fruit juice drink.

4. Do you wish on stars? Yes... I think I've only seen a shooting star once in my life, but I wished fervently on it. And sometimes, I'd wish on the first star that I see when I look into the sky, but well, I have a feeling that since I couldn't see any other stars most times due to the clouds and weather, it could very well have just been a satellite!

5. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Black. Well, I call myself Black Dawn for a reason, y'know. Although I'd go for deep aquamarine too, if I'm feeling calm.

6. How is the weather right now? The sun's out, but it doesn't look too hot right now, which is deceptive... the humidity would still be really high. It's been raining a lot lately... I'm hoping it'll rain later today, so it'll be cooler in the evening.

7. Last person you spoke to on the phone? Mr. Chen - I'm the focal point for the phone system, so if anything goes wrong, I call him. He probably finds me annoying. :D

8. How old are you today? 25, soon to be 26.

9. Favorite drink? Can't really think of one. Water. Occasional fruit juices or soft drinks. Am very much partial to cocktails with vodka, tequila or baileys in it.

10. Favorite sport to watch? Don't really watch sports. Ice-skating or gymnastics or water sports, if I do bother.

11. Have you ever dyed your hair? Yes. It turned the front part of my hair orange for about three months. After that and one more disaster, stopped dying my hair for about four years. I did some highlights recently though, and it's a nice change.

12. Do you wear contacts? Hardly ever. For special occasions, or in events where glasses may get in the way, or if I really feel like it.

13. Pets? I like animals, but they don't like me much, so I don't have any pets. Sis has a cat and Mom has a dog. The cat lives upstairs, and the dog lives downstairs. That arrangement works because we bar the bottom of the stairs with a plank of wood too high for the dog to jump over. They are both extremely cute and adorable in different ways.

14. Favorite months? August and December. I like the end of the year.

15. What inspires you? Books. People. Music.

16. What is the last movie you watched? Fantastic Four.

17. Favorite day of the year? *ponder* Y'know, I wouldn't put my birthday as one of those days, because well, I can't say that it's always been good, although there has been a couple of memorable days birthdays here and there. I love Christmas... the whole spirit of it, not just the gifts. I love the caroling, and I love the parties, of course, so I guess it's Christmas.

18. What do you do to vent anger? Interesting question. Most times, I don't vent it, especially at work, or with friends. Sometimes, I'd look for someone I can trust and talk it out, then I'd feel better. When it gets really horrendous, I'd scream. But that has only happened once or twice, and only in a car of a trusted friend in a quiet area far away from other people. Roller coasters work too, if you want a good scream, but really, most are just too far away to be practical. Most of the time, I'll just keep it to myself and smoke a lot.

19. What was your favorite toy as a child? Barbie dolls. Guess I wasn't all that tomboyish after all.

20. Fall or spring? I've seen late spring in China and early fall in the States and I think I've always prefered fall even before I've seen it in RL.

21. Hugs or kisses? Hugs. Not from just anyone though. I guess it depends on how safe I feel with a particular person. I get nervous when people invade my personal space. If you're female or gay, or much younger than I am, chances are I wouldn't mind. Anything outside that depends on the person involved.

22. Cherry or blueberry? Not sure as yet. Have never eaten fresh blueberries. If it's in jams and such, I'd say blueberry.

23. Do you want your friends to mail you back? It'd be nice, yes. Not really expecting anyone to, really. I've seen many of these 'Q&A' quizzes, but never bother to do any of them after the one I did at the beginning of this blog, but Heather thought that I was most likely to respond, so I gave it a try.

24. Who is most likely to respond? Az, I guess?

25. Who is least likely to respond? Charles, I suppose. Along with most others.

26. When was the last time you cried? When the inspection mission was here about a month ago... stress-related. And before that, at the airport in Denver.

27. What is on the floor in your closet? A couple of boxes, some new scarves, a file or two, and various bags.

28. Who is the friend you've had the longest? Jenn, although our friendship has deteriorate to the point where I'm not even sure if it's a friendship anymore, and it's partially my fault.

29. What did you do last night? Went for GODS session at Wolf's shop. What I really wanted to do was go drinking and get totally sloshed, but I have to work today. So I'm planning to do that tonight.

30. Favorite smell? Favourite perfume - 5th Avenue from Elizabeth Arden and BCBG Girl (Metro), from Max Azria. I also love the smell of eucalyptus oil, the smell of fresh air after the rain, the scent of roses... but I guess my all-time favourite smell in the world is the smell of the sea.

31. What are you afraid of? Driving. Heights. Falling.

32. Plain, cheese, or spicy hamburgers? Spicy!

33. Favorite Car? Don't like driving, remember? Although I like that cute lil' two-door coupe, which is a smart car of some sort, but I don't remember who makes them.

34. Favorite dog breed? Never thought of it, really. Shih-Tzus are cute, I fell in love with one, once - but too expensive and high maintenance. I suppose I'd like to have a Husky or Saint Bernard, although I doubt they'd survive in tropical weather.

35. Number of keys on your key ring? I have two sets. Office key ring: 6. House key ring: 6.

36. How many years at your current job? A little more than 1 1/2 year.

37. Favorite day of the week? Saturday

38. How many states have you lived in? Two - KL, which is the Federal Territory, and Selangor.

39. How many cities\Towns have you lived in? Two as well, Kajang and KL.

Wow, that is short.

I can see what people mean about it making you pixie-like, and it is cute, but it's so different it's striking! I think I like your long hair better, overall, but at least this haircut is a good one that people think is flattering.

Thanks for taking the questionnaire! Can you solve the mystery for me of what a spicy hamburger is?

Spicy hamburger... different interpretations.
My fav: hamburger with black pepper sauce... yum!
Second fav: hamburger with chili sauce... good!

As for the hair, I'll keep it short, but not this short. I'll grow it long enough to brush my shoulders, I think.

1. According to my CV, I'm a 'Project Supervisor'. I don't have a job title per se, but it's the one that fits what I do the most.
2. Enigma - Silence Must be Heard.
3. A fistful of grapes.
4. Well, I don't stop and look at the sky often. And when I do, I usually forget all about shooting stars and whatnot. XD
5. I don't know.. a shade of gray maybe?
6. It's cool.
7. I called a friend to finish the arrangements for going to the movies tonight.
8. 22 years old. And counting.
9. Plain vodka, no ice.
10. When I DO watch ESPN, I watch bowling tournaments or select soccer games.
11. As much as I hate to admit it, yes. A few years back, a few friends and I made a pact in which they'd dye their hair green and blue, respectively. Not aiming for such an unusual look, I chose to dye mine brown, a light shade of brown. And it wasn't long before I dyed it again, back to my natural hair color so that the dark brown hair roots didn't show. Needless to say, it's stayed its natural color ever since. ^^;;
12. Can't wear contacts. The back of my eyelids won't allow them to stay in their place.
13. Apart from my lil' bro, who lives in the room next door, I have no other pets.
14. November, December. I like it when the weather's chilly and the nights are longer.
15. Movies and TV, mostly. Books (biographies particularly).
16. War of the Worlds.
17. Some day right in the middle of February. It's the day in which the catholic saint with my name is celebrated, and since I forget which exact day it is, my family usually surprises me with a special dinner or whatnot.
18. Beat the living crap out of a punching bag sure helps at venting my anger. Arcade first person shooter games is second runner. Shooting my way through waves and waves of baddies for ten minutes leaves me as relaxed as if I'd gotten a massage. XD
19. The toy I remember the most is a plush tiger, which I got on a trip to Busch Gardens, in Florida, back when I was like 5 or 6 years old. Conveniently, I named it 'tiger'. XD
20. Fall, no question about it.
21. It depends. I tend to require more personal space than most people, so it's rare for me to go around hugging and kissig people that isn't the gf in turn.
22. Blueberry r0x0rs.
23. Well.. uhh.. not many people read my LJ account, so that's a no. XD
24. Well, I'm expecting to get some sort of comments from Dawn, I suppose. ^^
25. Beats me.
26. Nine years ago.
27. Shoes, a portfolio, and a sleeping bag on top of the shoes.
28. Well, I've got a few friends that go back all the way to elementary school. We get along quite well. ^^
29. Considering it was a Thursday night, I stayed up late working on my CV. 0320 or so. @_@
30. Parfume - Emporio Armani for women. Lotion - Boss in Motion. Smell - Unpolluted air. XD
31. What are you afraid of? Heights, if not in motion. I can ride an airplane without any trouble, but I can't just be all static while looking down.
32. Cheese. I don't really enjoy spicy food.
33. It'll sound clichéd, but it's a Ferrari Enzo.
34. Alaskan malamute, also known as 'Husky'. Wouldn't have it, though.
35. 14 or so.
36. A little more than a year, I think.
37. Favorite day of the week? Friday and Saturday are my favorites, but I'd pick Saturday over Friday because I can sleep in late. XD
38. How many states have you lived in? One.
39. How many cities\Towns have you lived in? One.

There ya go. ^^

Thanks for taking the quiz, toots. I'm not sure if most people consider their younger people as pets, but well... to each his/her own, ne?

*hugs*
